Life doesn't happen along interstates. Its against the law.
Blue Highways: A Journey into America
William Least Heat-Moon

Finding the back-roads is the way to go. I love traveling in my van (Rocinante the 55th. the 55th generation of the Gallant Stead rode by Don Quixote) and getting lost; if you can't get lost you can't live.

Ursala K. Le Guin The Left Hand Of Darkness on Fear

But I do fear you, Envoy. I fear those who sent you. I fear liars, and I fear tricksters, and worst I fear the bitter truth. And so I rule my country well. Because only fear rules men. Nothing else lasts long enough. You are what you say you are, yet you're a joke, a hoax. There's nothing in between the stars but void and terror and darkness, and you come out of that all alone trying to frighten me. But I am already afraid, and I am the king. Fear is king! Now take your traps and tricks and go, there no more needs saying. I have ordered that you be given the freedom of Karhide. (Le Guin, 40)

I. Lord's Supper - Oh, Holy Wonderbread!!!!! On Communion and Brotherhood

The sun was setting, aspen trees were still green; the aspens were about to turn into a blaze of fire.

We drove our Dodge Neon carefully, about fifteen miles per hour, up the Mountain Pass. We knew that it was time to get going. If we did not go over the pass by 8 pm we would be stuck in Aspen Colorado. A place for the uber-rich, not for hicks like us.

The deer came out, as we navigated up the mountain pass. . We captured the deer in our throw away cameras and discussed the Christian Communion:
"Some people are strange?"
"You got that right."
"Christ in a piece of bread,
"Divine honors, Oh Holy Piece of Bread!"
"Oh, holy wine!"
"Yeah, I could use a beer, just about now."
"Milwaukee's Best, things don't get better than this."
"I love you man!"
"I love you too, but you aint getting my Bud Light."

Scripture:
John 6
I Corinthians 11
Col 1:15-20

381 AD - Gregory of Nazianzus, Basil of Caesarea, Gregory of Nyssa

The Nicene Creed Ramports
It took a long time for the idea of one substance and three persons to become encoded into the Church DNA.

We often struggle with the idea of the trinity. How can God be one and three? What is the three's relationship?

We must remember that it took 400 years for the words ousia (substance) and hypostasis (persons) to become coined by three men of the faith: Gregory of Naizanzu, Basil of Casarea, and Gregory of Nyssa. They held that in one entity there were three persons the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. If we struggle with the idea of the Trinity then we should not fear a lack of faith! We need to realize; it takes time to grasp the identity of the Trinity. And even when we we think we got the idea of the trinity, we should review our understanding.

325 Answers to Heresy from the Early Catholic Church

The Early Catholic Church worked to safeguard the pure story of the cross.

First: The apostles kept the story alive, by being careful about succession of the gospel truth.

Second: Iraneous, Linus and other men codified the New Testament. They finally agreed on the twenty-seven books in the New Testament by 367.

Third: . The Apostles Creed was a big shield in preserving the Gospel Truth:

1. Answer to the Marcionites belief that a wicked God called Demiurge created the heaven and earth:

I believe in God, the Father almighty,

creator of heaven and earth;

2. Answer to the Marcionites belief that Jesus was a seperate God, who remained hidden until out of pure Love He revealed himself in Christ:

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.

He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit,
and born of the Virgin Mary

3. Answersto the Mysteries and their belief that there is no historical signifigance to Christ.

He suffered under Pontious Pilate;
was crucified, and was buried.

He descended into hell.

The third day he rose again from the dead.

4. Answers to Montanism who believed there were future prophets who would be able to judge our world. The Montanisms stand in the way of the Biblical Fact that Jesus alone judges the quick:
He ascended into heaven,

and is seated on the the right hand of God the Father almighty.

From thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

5. Answers to Novation belief that sins/relapses could not be repented of once baptized:
I believe in the Holy Spirit,

the holy Catholic Church,

the communion of saints,

the forgiveness of sins,

6. Answers to the Gnostic and Marcionites separation of soul and body. They believed that the body was evil and bound the soul in a prison. The biblical truth is that our bodies are not evil in of themselves... they mean enough to be resurrected...

the resurrection of the body,

and the life everlasting. Amen.

The heresies were a threat because they could drive away the believer from the core truth of the gospel. They were much like Oprah in there attempt to take "God out of the Box".
Marc Driscol beautifully critiques this gospel.

These are my observations on how the Apostles creed answers the Heretic Threats. If anyone wants to shine some more light on this issue please reply to my post. I am just trying to learn here!!!! And know I do not have the education needed to be an expert on this in the least....
